Caring Ministry

The Caring Ministry is a mission outreach of the First Presbyterian Church of York whose mission and purpose is to demonstrate the love of God by enriching the lives of neighbors in need. The Caring Ministry is open and accepting of anyone who needs assistance. We welcome ALL of our neighbors in the York community and beyond by committing our resources to assisting those who are without. The Caring Ministry strives to coordinate the services it provides with other agencies in York to avoid duplication of services and to ensure that the neighbors’ needs are met and/or refers the individual to the necessary organizations.

Mission Work

It is the function of the Mission Committee to provide opportunities for members and missionaries to impact the world for Jesus Christ by supporting their spiritual, financial, and physical needs. The committee serves as a liaison and support system between the church and its related missionaries, service organizations, agencies, and associations. This committee has also been instrumental in providing opportunities for church members to actively serve in the mission field on short-term mission trips.

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of York, seeks to glorify God through expressions of beautiful music.  Our spiritual and musical gifts enrich, uplift and renew our worship services, and we are able to express traditional, time-honored music, as well as contemporary, new musical offerings. In addition to worship, the Music Ministry enriches other aspects of community life at FPC, by supporting outreach opportunities especially to arts organizations in the city of York, and supporting the Annual Abendmusik Concert Series. Through our efforts, we encourage the growth of the wider church, through an open and universally welcoming musical experience.

Youth & Young Adults Ministry

First Presbyterian Church Youth and Young Adults Ministries seeks to Nurture and Equip the Next Generation as we Follow Jesus Everywhere.

We encourage our youth and young adults to invest themselves in the life of the church through Sunday morning worship, Sunday school classes, Youth Group fellowship and activities, Small Groups, and Mission focused monthly service-learning opportunities and summer mission trips.

FPC Youth and Young Adults Ministries are open to all youth in grades 6-12, and young adults ages 18-25. Join us any Sunday for fellowship from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a Christ-centered ministry of care-giving to adult members of our congregation and our community by lay persons in our congregation. Stephen Ministers (“care givers”) complete a 50-hour course taught by Stephen Leaders before they are paired with an individual (“care receiver”) who is experiencing a life crisis or going through a difficult time. All of the care giving is one-on-one, confidential, and with a person of the same gender.

Children’s Ministry

From Sunday morning, to our mid-week program, to our summer Vacation Bible School, there are many opportunities to have your child grow in their faith. At First Presbyterian Church, we believe that children grow in their faith through all of their senses so a variety of activities are presented in order to awaken each child. We believe that “hands-on learning is minds-on learning,” so the children are invited to participate in real-life activities to help them grow in their faith.
